Jared Joseph Leto (born December 26, 1971) is an American actor and musician. After starting his career with television appearances in the early 1990s, Leto achieved recognition for his role as Jordan Catalano on the television series My So-Called Life (1994). He made his film debut in How to Make an American Quilt (1995) and received critical praise for his performance in Prefontaine (1997). The Academy Is… are a rock band which formed in 2003 in Chicago, Illinois, United States. The band's current lineup consists of lead vocalist William Beckett, rhythm guitarist Mike Carden, lead guitarist Jamie Reed Schefman, bassist Adam T. Siska, and drummer Andy "The Butcher" Mrotek. The band has released three albums - Almost Here (2005), Santi (2007) and Fast Times at Barrington High (2008) - before disbanding in 2011. The band reunited in 2015 and officially reformed in 2022.
William Beckett (singer) and Adam T. Siska's (bass) plans for starting a band together came to fruition on March 4, 2003 recruiting Mike Carden (guitar) after his former band, Jodie, which had members of Victory Records act June, broke up then eventually adding AJ LaTrace as a lead guitarist and Michael DelPrincipe (Little Mike) as a drummer. They recorded their self-titled debut EP, The Academy (2004), for the Chicago-based label LLR Recordings. LLR Recordings had previously released Beckett's solo project Remember Maine's debut album The Last Place You Look in 2002

“Who is that curly headed guy playing guitar with TAI lately? He brings so much to the table, but remains a bit of a mystery man.”
That is our long time friend and collaborator Jamie Reed Schefman.
We met Jamie through some mutual friends back in 2010. An incredible talented audio engineer, he began working on demos with us for the 4th TAI album.
It went so well that we actually asked Jamie to begin playing guitar with the band. He accepted the offer.
Jamie made his live debut with TAI on September 9th, 2011 at Terminal 5 in New York City.
He described the show as one of the best moments of his life, and was so excited to continue playing with his favorite band of all time, the Academy Is…
About a week later the band broke up. Total bummer for everybody.
But we’re so happy to have him back playing with us. You may have even seen him at @whenwewereyoungfest playing guitar for Thirty Seconds to Mars.
