Former 'Mickey Mouse Club' Star Marque 'Tate' Lynche Died of Chronic Alcoholism, Officials Say
The cause of death for Marque “Tate” Lynche, who was a member of the All New Mickey Mouse Club, has been released by the New York City Chief Medical Examiner.
Lynch, who died Dec. 6 at age 34, died from “acute and chronic alcoholism,” a public information officer at the medical examiner’s office confirmed to PEOPLE.
Lynch spent two years as Mousketeer from 1993 to 1995 along with Britney Spears, Ryan Gosling, Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera. He also competed on season 3 of American Idol.
In December, Lynche’s former costar on the All New Mickey Mouse Club Dale Godboldo remembered the star in a statement to PEOPLE:
“Knowing Marque during the MMC days – as my little brother – I knew he was hugely talented with a passion for the arts, and a passion for life,” Godboldo said. “But it was more recently while collaborating on an MMC related project that I got to know Marque as a man.

Mickey Mouse Club’s Marque ‘Tate’ Lynche dead at 34
A former member of the 1990s version of the “Mickey Mouse Club,” Marque “Tate” Lynche Jr., has died at the age of 34, according to several media outlets.
CNN reported the New York Police Department said Lynche’s roommate found his body on Sunday in his New York apartment. Read CNN’s story here.
Lynche, born in St. Petersburg, Fla., was a member of the “Mickey Mouse Club” from 1993-1995 alongside fellow clubmembers Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears and Ryan Gosling as well as T.J. Fantini and Nikki Deloach.
Lynche was also a competitor on Season 3 of “American Idol” but did not make it into the top 12. He also played in the ensemble cast and had a run as Simba in Disney’s Broadway production of “The Lion King.”

In 1995, Marque “Tate” Lynche walked onto the stage in Orlando, Florida, with his fellow All New Mickey Mouse Club members, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling, and TJ Fantini, to perform “Always in My Heart” in front of a screaming audience of kids. The child actor and singer’s other co-stars on the Disney Channel’s long-running show included Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, and JC Chasez, later of ‘N Sync.

Lynche was among the most talented stars of the show. He would convey genuine excitement as he led the camera crew around his hometown of Clearwater, Florida, for short MMC segments. He also starred in at least one music video for MMC, which also featured Ryan Gosling and Justin Timberlake.
