Valerie Evans

A Little Bit About Me

I’ve hovered around the charity sector for most of my life, whether that’s been shaking money tins outside supermarkets, working as a charity administrator, or working for heart-led businesses who loved to partner with charities. But when my son was born with Down Syndrome, it showed me a different side of the coin. Overnight, I went from being a charity supporter to becoming a charity beneficiary.

It was a whole new world I knew nothing about.

But that first night, as my son struggled to feed, I promised him that I would do everything I could to make sure that kids like him had all they needed to succeed in life.

  • It meant that I had to bite the bullet and stop putting myself in an admin box.
  • It meant going on a learning adventure and earning two fantastic degrees.
  • It meant devoting 15 years to running charities and helping them grow.

All that experience has helped me to expand my horizons. I now work with charities and non-profit organisations like yours:

  • Improving their governance
  • Building their funding portfolio
