Camille Dalmais, known as Camille, was born in 1978 in Paris. Passionate about bossa and musicals, she took singing lessons and at the age of 20, participated in the vocal workshops of the British singer Julie Tippetts. A brilliant student, she released her first album in 2002, Le sac des filles, while still a student at the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris.

In 2005, she was awarded two Victoires de la musique as well as the Prix Constantin for her second album Le Fil. Between 2009 and 2018, Camille won three more Victoires de la musique thanks to her ability to offer the public sensitive and unique albums that get a great success with the critics. In her twenty-year career, she has collaborated with a large number of renowned artists and has notably had the opportunity to reunite with Bobby McFerrin on several occasions, on stage and to work on his opera project Bobble.

Camille Dalmais (born 10 March 1978[1]), better known by her mononymCamille, is a French singer.

Early life and education

Camille was born and raised in Paris.[1] Her mother was a teacher of English and her father, Hervé Dalmais, was a musician.[2] As a teenager, she studied ballet and developed an interest in bossa nova music and American stage musicals.[1] She attended the prestigious Lycée International de Saint Germain-en-Laye, where she obtained her baccalaureate in literature. Thanks to her mother, Camille speaks English fluently as well as her native French. She performed her first original song "Un Homme Déserté" at the age of sixteen while attending a wedding.[1] In the early 2000s, while performing at jazz clubs in Paris, Camille made her acting debut in the film Les Morsures de l'aube [fr] (by Antoine de Caunes; with Asia Argento and Guillaume Canet). She also contributed to the song "La Vie la Nuit" in its soundtrack.
