Dr. Robin Ganzert spent her early years captivated by the animals featured in Disney movies, falling in love with horses, dogs, cats and all wildlife. Her passion and advocacy for the power of the human-animal bond led her to her dream job of serving as the President and CEO of American Humane Association, the first national humane organization founded in 1877 for the protection of children and animals. Robin Ganzert, Ph.D., serves as president and CEO of American Humane Society, the country’s first national humane organization and the first to serve animals, whenever and wherever they are in need of rescue, shelter or protection. She is the executive producer of the full-length, award-winning documentary, Escape from Extinction, narrated by Dame Helen Mirren, as well as the executive producer of the annual American Humane Hero Dog Awards which aired for ten years on Hallmark Channel and most recently aired on A&E and fyi networks.
Additionally, she is the author of The Humane Table: Cooking with Compassion, Mission Metamorphosis and Animal Stars. Her next book, Escape from Extinction, is set to come out in 2025. Dr. Ganzert serves on the board of Loro Parque Foundation, the Lois Pope LIFE Foundation and is a member of The Explorers Club, the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce Trustee Program, and the International Women’s Forum. She has been awarded the prestigious Gorilla Prize by world-renowned zoological organization Loro Parque for her efforts in conservation.

Robin Ganzert is the president and CEO of American Humane, the country's oldest national humane organization.[1] American Humane works to protect animals and children from abuse and harm.[2] Ganzert is the author of the book Animal Stars: Behind the Scenes with Your Favorite Animal Actors (2014).[3] In February 2017, Ganzert was elected to the Forbes Nonprofit Council for Chief Executive Officers.[4]
Education and career
Ganzert received her B.S. and M.B.A. from Wake Forest University, and her Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.[5]
Before working at American Humane, Ganzert served as deputy director of philanthropic services at the Pew Charitable Trusts, and she also was a national director of philanthropic strategies with Wachovia.[6]
